Reciprocity is a system of mutual exchange reflecting a reciprocal relationship between all parties involved. In short, positive reciprocity is the golden rule and the saying “I will scratch your back if you scratch my back” rolled into one. This kind of reciprocity has been a fundamental structure of many cultures the world over. However, living the ethics of reciprocity in today’s mechanized and modernized post-industrial society can be challenging and frustrating. Many people simple wish to live their lives to the best of their values without having to compete with the conflicting values of the mono-culture.
The Reciprocity Center is an experiment in fostering positive reciprocity online.
